June was a watershed month for NZVP with the highlights of our first concerted appearance at the New Zealand Veterinary Association (NZVA) conferences being the presentations made by three of our people.
Jenni Donald outlined our new Serum Amyloid A test to the Equine Conference. This test has advantages such as quicker elevation and drop off and a greater magnitude when compared to the traditional fibrinogen test for detecting inflammatory responses. Jenni provided fantastic relevance through a series of case studies that highlighted how Serum Amyloid A pointed us towards a diagnosis in the absence of any meaningful information from the fibrinogen tests.
Adrienne French and Jen Willows were on the agenda at the Veterinary Nursing Conference. Adrienne detailed the best methods for sampling skin lesions for cytological examination and Jen followed with a wide-ranging presentation onworking with the lab, including logistics such as proper sample-taking and filling out of submission forms.
